ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY PUBLISHES
ONLINE DIRECTORY OF MINORITY & WOMAN-OWNED BUSINESSES
Three years after publication of its first directory , the Anne
Arundel County
Office of Central Services will release an
interactive, online version. Beginning September 1, 2005, the
Anne Arundel County Directory of Minority and Women-Owned Businesses
will be available on the County’s
webpage. The directory is an
initiative of the Anne Arundel County Minority Business Enterprise
Committee which began in 2002 with publication of the first edition.
The new directory contains a listing of approximately 900 businesses
located in Anne Arundel County which is the first local government
in the region to provide this service to the community.
The online directory is designed for use by County staff, developers
and general contractors looking to utilize women and minority
businesses in compliance with State and Federal contracting
requirements for MBE/DBE Programs.
County Executive Janet S. Owens
strongly encourages County staff and the civic community to use
firms listed in the directory. Using local firms is good for the
local economy.
The
eDirectory allows individuals to register their company
online. Business owners will also be able to update and correct
company information in their files which simply contains: owners
name, company name, address, phone number, email and/or web address,
description of company services and various categories identifying
the company’s services or product. Another important feature of the
eDirectory is its download capabilities. Anyone interested
in obtaining a copy of the directory will be able to
download the
entire document. Citizens can search the directory to find home
remodeling contractors, daycare and nurseries, restaurants,
printers, gift shops, physicians and dentists, travel agents,
computer repair technicians and many more.
