David S. Cordish is Chairman of The Cordish Company.
Mr.
Cordish has a B.A. and a Masters in Liberal Arts from Johns Hopkins
University. He has an LLB degree from the University of Maryland Law
School. His career has included service in law, government, and
commercial businesses. He served in both the Carter and Reagan
Administrations as head of the Urban Development Action Grant
Program.
He is Chairman of one of the largest and oldest privately-held
development companies in the United States. The Cordish Company is
headquartered in Baltimore, and was originally started by his
grandfather in the early 1900’s. David’s father was an active
participant for over 70 years, and David’s three sons, Jon, Blake,
and Reed Cordish, the fourth generation, are presently executives at
the Company. Cordish has four distinct thriving divisions: (1)
specializing in urban mixed-use and retail/entertainment
development; (2) suburban power and life-style centers; (3)
gaming/lodging; and (4) food and beverage operations. The Cordish
Company is widely recognized as one of the leaders nationally in the
field of entertainment development and its own operation of
entertainment venues, restaurants, live performance, and gaming. The
Company owns and manages over 40 million square feet of commercial,
hotel, and residential development.
The Cordish Company is the only development company to receive
seven Urban Land Institute Awards for Excellence. The Company has
partnered with two dozen City, State, County, and Indian Nations to
co-develop projects and is unique in its depth of experience in
public/private development. The Company also has partnerships with a
large number of major league sports franchises across the U.S.
Mr. Cordish has served on numerous national, state, and local
boards, including professional, civic, and charitable. He has acted
as a pro bono consultant to Johns Hopkins University, Loyola
College, Stevenson University, and other non-profit entities. Mr.
Cordish was the recipient of the 2004 Johns Hopkins Real Estate
Program’s Leadership Award, and numerous other regional and national
honors and awards.
Joseph S. Weinberg is a principal and President for The
Cordish Company.
He
joined the company as a partner in 1988 and has been involved in the
development of many of the company's specialty projects, including
Trolley Square, Ocean City Factory Outlets, Tollgate Marketplace,
The Power Plant, Indiana Live! Casino, and the Seminole Hard Rock
Hotels & Casinos.
Prior to joining The Cordish Company, Mr. Weinberg served in
several strategic planning, financial and business development
capacities with Bozell, Jacobs, Kenyon & Eckhardt, Dallas, Texas,
providing consulting services to such clients as American Airlines,
Dial Corporation and the Dallas Mavericks. A graduate in business
from The University of Virginia, Mr. Weinberg serves on the boards
of directors of numerous charitable agencies and trusts.
